Navy paramedics, Anne Arundel police officer suffer minor injuries in crash

An Anne Arundel County Police Department vehicle and a U.S. Naval Academy ambulance collided in Annapolis Friday morning outside Anne Arundel Medical Center, officials said.

Three paramedics from the academy’s Naval Support Activity fire station were transporting a cardiac arrest patient in an ambulance when it collided with the police vehicle and overturned on its side, said Ed Zeigler, a Naval District Washington spokesperson. It is unclear which vehicle initiated the crash.

The paramedics suffered minor injuries in the crash, which happened at about 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of Jennifer Road and Pavilion Parkway. The paramedics received care at the hospital and were released this morning, Zeigler said. The patient was still under care at the medical center Friday morning, and was conscious and alert, he added.

The Anne Arundel County Police officer who was driving the department’s vehicle also suffered minor injuries and was seen at the hospital as well, police spokesperson Marc Limansky said.
