The One-Week Musical Project is a summer camp giving young aspiring actors the opportunity to improve their skills over the course of five days at Crofton Meadows Elementary.
Run by Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks, the camp began Monday with the students auditioning for roles and continued throughout the week with lessons, practices and rehearsals. It culminated Friday in a 30-minute performance. This week featured a production of Frozen Kids, which had a cast of 35 children between the ages of 7 and 14. The musical was directed by Heather Harris, musical theater coordinator for rec and parks.
Harris started the current musical theater program when she was hired by the county in 2015. Frozen Kids is the 44th production and 12th iteration of the One-Week Musical Project during her tenure.
This fall, the program will offer musical theater performance workshops for three experience levels, for children as young as 4 up to 16. Registration for program workshops, dance classes and other fall programs opens on Wednesday at www.aacounty.org/recparks.
