Anne Arundel County police believe a man who was shot Thursday in Gambrills was the victim of a targeted attack.

Police found the victim in a powerline access area off of Johns Hopkins Road on Thursday at about 12:45 p.m. The man had been “seriously assaulted” and was taken to a local hospital, police said in a statement.

The victim’s severe injuries were later determined to be gunshot wounds, officials said. He was shot in the upper and lower body.

The man is expected to survive, police said.

Detectives are investigating and looking for anyone who might have witnessed the assault.

Police encourage anyone with information to call the Western District Detective Unit at 410-222-6155 or the tip line at 410-222-4700.
