Two people were transported to a trauma center with non-life threatening injuries after a boat caught fire in Edgewater, according the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire units responded to a boat fire in White Marsh Creek at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to the department.
Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Lauren Moses said that two men were trying to dock their 37-foot Monterey vessel when one of the engines failed. Restarting the engine, the boat caught fire, she said.
“Fortunately, both occupants could evacuate the vessel by jumping onto a nearby pier before the boat was fully engulfed,” Moses said in an email.

The volunteers and the Anne Arundel County and Annapolis fire departments responded to put out the fire.
An hour later, the boat had sunk and the two men were taken to an area trauma center “for precautionary measures,” Moses said.
The DNR is investigating the cause of the explosion.
