DuClaw will be raising its last pint at Arundel Mills on Wednesday.
The brewery — known for the wacky titles that populate its menu — announced on Facebook Monday that its location in the mall will be closing for “a variety of circumstances, most outside of our control.”
“Unfortunately, the Mall is no longer a place we can call home,” the post read. “Again, thanks to all who have shared their time with us, we are grateful to you all.”
The space now occupied by DuClaw will be taken over by the Yard House, a chain that offers a wide variety of pub fare — from steaks and street tacos to grilled burgers and sandwiches — and hosts a lengthy beer list.
Some of DuClaw’s staff have already found new jobs, the company wrote on Facebook, and others are “taking time to reflect.”
DuClaw will continue serving up its signature “Double Naked Fish” a chocolate raspberry stout — and “Devil’s Milk” — an American barley wine — at its location in the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Still, over a hundred of the brewery’s fans expressed their dismay at the news in the comments section of the post, and recounted the memories they had shared at its spot in Arundel Mills.
This was the place for retirement parties, for happy hours after work. It was where loyal customers had met roommates and had shared first drinks with future spouses.
“Duclaw was a cornerstone of [the] area, and will surely be missed,” one commenter wrote.
