Man killed after car crashes into his Brooklyn Park home, Anne Arundel Police say

A 68-year-old man died after a car crashed into his Brooklyn Park home early Saturday morning, trapping him between the vehicle and an interior wall, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Around 3 a.m., a Baltimore man was driving a Nissan Altima south on Johnson Street approaching the intersection with Walton Avenue and failed to stop at a sign, police said. He jumped a curb and crashed into the house, occupied by Gerald Patrick Keogh Jr, another adult and two dogs.

The car struck Keogh in the home and trapped him against a wall until emergency crews arrived and extricated him, police said. He was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver, Christopher Davis, fled the scene toward Ritchie Highway. Officers apprehended him and charged him with manslaughter by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while impaired by drugs, driving while impaired by drugs or drugs and alcohol and other charges.

The use of drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor, police said. Davis’ toxicology results are pending.
