Anne Arundel County and Naval Academy firefighters brought a house fire under control in Arnold early Saturday morning.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported in fire in the 400 block of Broadwater Road, according to a fire department release.

After 74 years, the firefighters at Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Company in Pasadena finally has a proper place to hang their hats. All it took was three county executives, at least six senators, two fire chiefs, three groundbreakings and two ribbon cuttings.

A passerby called 911 around 1 a.m. after seeing flames coming from the house and receiving no response from knocking on doors, the release said. Firefighters arrived to find fire coming from the attic area on one side of the two-story, single-family house.

Thirty firefighters from the county and the academy brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes, the release said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation unit. Damages are estimated at $50,000, according to the fire department.
