Severna Park High School’s new $2.5 million stadium is under repair.
The Falcons’ turf field opened in March. By late April, a problem surfaced and bleachers had to be removed from the side away from Robinson Road.
During the permit review process, the county fire marshal required a fire lane to the stadium field, said Bob Mosier, Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesman . That necessitated a shift in the location of the bleachers. The press box was centered in the bleachers and when the shift was made it became off-center.
The school system had to choose between extending the press box or move it, and the system chose to move it.
Mosier said the school system is waiting on some of the last parts for the bleacher modification. Everything should be done by the time school lets out June 15, he said.
