A Bowie High School teacher was charged Monday with sexual abuse of a minor and third-degree sex offense, police said in a media release, after a student reported to a family member that she was in a relationship with the man, who is 29.

K-Sean Donovan, Jr. is a science teacher at Bowie High, according to the school’s website. Police said in a media release Monday that Donovan allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a female student on school grounds multiple times since May of 2019.

Police launched their investigation Dec. 1, after the student told a member of her family she and Donovan were having a relationship, police said.

According to court records Donovan was committed Dec. 2 and will have a preliminary hearing Jan. 3, 2020.

Donovan is on administrative leave from his assignment as a science teacher at Bowie High School, according to school system officials.
