A burglary suspect barricaded himself in a home on Kent Island for nine hours Monday before he was arrested by police.
Brandon Borradaile, 25, of Ocean City, was charged with first- and third-degree burglary, and malicious destruction of property.
Maryland State Police received a call at 6:30 a.m. from a Stevensville resident about suspicious activity at a home on Bayside Drive. An unfamiliar car was parked in the driveway, the caller said, and a man was walking around the house.
When troopers arrived at the home, they observed broken glass in a sliding door in the back of the home.
Officers made verbal commands for the man to exit the home, but he refused and barricaded himself inside, police said.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., a tactical team entered the home and arrested Borradaile without incident. No one else was in the house.
Police said the car in the driveway had been reported stolen following a burglary last week in Ocean City. Additional charges are pending for the Ocean City burglary, police said.
