Three weeks after Annapolis police charged a man with a 2013 murder in the city, an Anne Arundel County grand jury on Friday indicted him on more than a dozen charges.
Tyrus Brown, 27, of Annapolis, faces 13 criminal counts, including first-degree murder, for the shooting death of John Donnel Ray, 32, of Calvert County, on April 21, 2013. He is the third person charged with the killing.
Tahzay Brown, 25, of Glen Burnie, and Todd Brown, 26, of Annapolis, also have been charged with first-degree murder and other offenses in connection to Ray's death. The pair was scheduled to go to trial next week, but the hearings were postponed.
Ray was found shot to death in a vehicle at the Fairwinds of Annapolis condominium complex on Victor Parkway, police said.
Detectives said they were able to link Todd and Tahzay Brown to the shooting through video surveillance, phone evidence and help from the community. They were indicted last year.
After further investigation, police charged Tyrus Brown in June and arrested him in August with assistance from the Maryland State Police Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service. He is being held without bond at Jennifer Road Detention Center.
No attorney is listed for Tyrus Brown in online court records. An initial hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21.
