CHARLOTTE HILL — A Leonardtown man has been charged with stealing shopping carts from a grocery store and trying to sell them as scrap metal.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says witnesses reported the man stealing the shopping carts from a Food Lion in Charlotte Hall on Friday. They said the man, identified as 60-year-old Calvin Ben Jones of Leonardtown, loaded the carts into his pickup truck and drove away.
