Man convicted in infant's death wants review of case

A Maryland man convicted in the death of an 8-month-old girl wants a review of his case.

Donald Ray Pevia Jr., of Sykesville, is serving a 60-year prison sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder and other crimes in the death of his girlfriend's daughter. The medical examiner's office says the infant's March 2009 death was caused by multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The Carroll County Times reports that Pevia has filed a motion seeking post-conviction relief. He says he no longer wants his lawyer to represent him.

A review of the case by a three-judge panel was scheduled for Friday in Carroll County Circuit Court but was postponed at the lawyer's request.
