A vacant single-family home collapsed Wednesday following an early morning fire in Lisbon, Howard County fire officials said.

Firefighters responded about 2:30 a.m. to the 16000 block of Old Frederick Road to find the house fully engulfed in flames after a passerby spotted the blaze and called 911, officials said.

Units from Carroll County helped to extinguish the blaze, which took about 30 firefighters more than an hour to get under control, officials said.

Initial reports show the property was not occupied and did not have sprinklers or smoke alarms installed, fire officials said. Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 6:30 a.m.
