Roads reopen after raw sewage spill in Frederick

Roads are reopen following a raw sewage spill at Frederick's waste water treatment plant, county officials said Monday.

The spill subsided by early Monday and the plant is operating on generator power, according to the city. On Sunday evening, Gas House Pike was closed from Highland Street to Monocacy Boulevard.

Citizens should avoid water contact downstream from the spill, located at Carroll Creek and the Monocacy River on Gas House Pike, county officials said.

The city's drinking water has not been affected by the spill, officials said.
