Local police in Oklahoma said a Pikesville man identified as a suspect in his grandparents' deaths was unresponsive when they found him in a motel just off Interstate 40 last week.
Matthew Long, 31, was scheduled to check out of the Travel Inn on historic Route 66 in Weatherford, Okla., on the morning of Sept. 11, but, when he did not leave his room, the motel's owner called police.
"We found Mr. Long basically unresponsive," said Detective Todd Doyals with the Weatherford, Okla., Police Department. "It appears he had taken some prescription pills."
Long's grandparents, Vaughn Pepper, 87, and Marjorie Pepper, 85 were found dead inside the home they shared with him in the 800 block of Olmstead Road by police on Sept. 10. Police were called to the home by a neighbor who was contacted by a concerned relative.
Weatherford police alerted Baltimore County detectives that Long had been located after Baltimore County issued a missing persons alert. Police said they were searching for Long to question him, and later named him a suspect.
