A toddler was struck by an unmarked police vehicle on the eastern edge of the Patterson Park neighborhood Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The 2-year-old was hit at the intersection of Leverton and South Highland avenues around 3 p.m., police said.

The vehicle was turning out of the 3400 block of Leverton onto South Highland.

The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Children's Center, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department. Police said the victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

Accident investigators were still reviewing the incident at 8 p.m., said Detective Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman.

She did not expect any additional information, including the child's condition, to be released Thursday.
