Man pleads guilty to international car theft plot

A Washington man pleaded guilty in federal court in Baltimore to taking part in a scheme to steal cars and ship them for sale to west Africa.

Nineteen-year-old Kevin Britton pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen motor vehicles. He will be sentenced on Aug. 28.

According to his plea agreement, Britton and others hired people to steal vehicles from new-car lots and on the street, stored them at another location, loaded them into a shipping container and shipped them to Africa for sale.
