Police are looking for a man who they said drove his car toward two Cambridge police officers during a traffic stop, injuring one of them. The officers opened fire on the man, and it's not known whether he was wounded, police said.
Maryland state police are investigating the shooting, which occurred early Sunday morning on a roadside in Cambridge. Police say the two officers pulled over a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Demetrice Demby of Cambridge.
While the officers were inspecting the car with a police dog, police said, Demby accelerated toward one of them. Both officers opened fire, police said, adding that the first officer had to dive out of the way of the oncoming truck and suffered injuries including a broken ankle.
Police say Demby drove off and abandoned the truck a few blocks away.
