Crofton man pleads guilty to $485,000 travel fraud

Federal prosecutors say a Crofton man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for submitting false travel claims totaling more than $485,000 to an agency of the Department of Defense.

Fifty-two-year-old John R. Brock was also ordered to pay restitution and to forfeit three sailboats and two residential properties. He had pleaded guilty in October to a criminal information charging him with one count of making a false claim against the United States.

According to court documents, Bock was a budget analyst with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. In his guilty plea, Bock admitted to submitting 99 false travel vouchers through the defense travel system from 2008 through 2011.
