A total of 2.18 million commercial passengers used Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in June, an increase of 2.9 percent over June 2011, the state announced Monday. Last month's traffic set a new mark for June, and it was second only to July 2011 as the busiest month in airport history.
Southwest Airlines, the largest airline serving BWI, served 1.26 million passengers in June, a 6.5 percent increase from a year earlier. Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, American Airlines and British Airways all showed increases. Cargo shipments were up 1.7 percent in June to 20.85 million pounds.
