A federal judge in Baltimore has sentenced a Maryland man to 51 months in prison for armed bank robbery, authorities said.
James Anthony Welzenbach, 61, of St. Michaels was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge William D. Quarles Jr., the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office said.
The statement said that according to his earlier guilty plea, Welzenbach entered the Talbot Bank of Tilghman -- on Tilghman Island -- carrying a .22 caliber rifle last March 31. It added he demanded money from a teller and obtained $4,723.
Welzenbach was quickly identified by the truck he was driving as he left the bank and was arrested that evening, the FBI said.
The money was recovered afterward, and some of the cash had stains indicating a dye pack had exploded, authorities said.
