FROM LAST NIGHT...

: A bus company that served Baltimore has been shut down by federal transportation officials for being an "imminent hazard" to public safety.

: The man and woman, both in their 70s, suffered from smoke inhalation in Tuesday morning's fire, according to fire officials.

: The number of sexual assaults reported at the Naval Academy doubled during the 2010-2011 academic year, as did the percentage of female midshipmen reporting unwanted sexual contact, according to a report released Tuesday by the Defense Department.

: The Ravens, who enter Sunday's regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals as the No. 2 seed in the AFC, could be well-represented next month in the Pro Bowl with seven players being selected Tuesday for the game, including six as starters.

TODAY'S FRONT PAGE

: Home values in Maryland communities reassessed by the state this year have fallen an average of 17 percent since 2008, a sizable drop but smaller than in the last two rounds of property evaluations.

: The turbulent real estate market has helped drive a huge backlog of cases before the local boards that hear property tax assessment appeals. Though officials say they are hearing more cases than ever, the waits can stretch for months and months for some homeowners.

: Unseasonably warm temperatures and heavy rains have kept many ski areas in the region from filling their chairlifts during what traditionally is one of the busiest times of the season.

: Though the center -- used by more than 25,000 students a year -- is well known in Baltimore and in education circles around the country, it's easily pigeon-holed as "nerd camp," a place where oddballs go to solve chemistry problems in the summer.
