: A 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound was found outside in a field by a nearby resident in the 11400 block of Frederick Road in Ellicott City about 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, according to Howard County police. The boy was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in critical but stable condition late Tuesday, police said.

: UnitedHealthcare will announce Wednesday that it plans to hire 335 people in the Baltimore area as it enhances services to Medicare beneficiaries. The jobs will support the insurers' recently acquired XLHealth division, which provides Medicare health plans to underserved and chronically ill patients. The insurer, which employs about 2,700 at UnitedHealthcare and 556 at XLHealth, will increase its Maryland workforce by about 10 percent.

: The Orioles lost 5-0 to the New York Mets on Tuesday, the second consecutive night in which they have been shut out at Citi Field. The Orioles haven't scored since the sixth inning on Sunday in Atlanta -- 21 consecutive innings without plating a run.

: The family of Christopher Brown, the Randallstown teenager who died after a confrontation with an off-duty Baltimore County police officer last week, has met with Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger, who asked for patience and updated them on the investigation, their lawyer said Tuesday. Family members also have scheduled his funeral for Saturday, according to the Browns' attorney, Russell Neverdon.
