: The winning numbers for last night's Mega Millions jackpot were 9, 19, 34, 44, 51 and the Mega Ball was 24. No one matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball, so Friday night's drawing will be worth an estimated $476 million.

: Baltimore County Police have released a composite sketch of a man they believe burglarized several homes in the eastern part of the county between Thursday and Saturday.

: The Baltimore school board voted Tuesday to delay the closing of a struggling Cherry Hill high school and proceeded with district recommendations to eliminate middle grades from three elementary programs.

: An attorney for former Anne Arundel County Councilman Daryl D. Jones has filed a notice of appeal in county Circuit Court, in an effort to overturn a judge's recent ruling that the County Council acted properly when it removed Jones from his seat.

: Recently named the All-Metro Boys Basketball Player of the Year for the second straight season, the 5-foot-7 junior guard left the East Baltimore school and is now enrolled at St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, N.J.


: For Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, campaigning in Maryland on Tuesday represented something of a political homecoming. It was nearly 20 years ago that Gingrich hatched the outlines of the "Contract with America" during a GOP retreat in Salisbury.
