: Baltimore Police reported two related shootings, one of them fatal, Monday night in Southwest Baltimore. The incident happened about 8:44 p.m. in the 3000 block of Brighton St., according to a spokesman.

: Baltimore County Council members unanimously passed wide-ranging ethics reform legislation Monday, but not before scaling back parts of the measure. A series of amendments sponsored by all seven council members weakened parts of the original bill proposed by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.

: City officials are preparing to award contracts to three private groups to run recreation centers this week, following a string of delays, and have vowed to keep all of the city's centers open through June.

: Students at the campus on the St. Mary's River said farewell to the most talked-about dormitory in its history on Sunday when the Sea Voyager, a 286-foot cruise ship, pulled up anchor.

: The Maryland Transit Administration has told the General Assembly that it would have to raise Baltimore-area transit fares by 65 cents next fiscal year -- a 40 percent jump -- in order to meet state revenue goals without cutting service.

: A man was fatally shot about 6:22 p.m. Monday on a parking lot sidewalk outside Nordstrom at Towson Town Center, Baltimore County police said.

: Army investigators found nearly half a million field reports from Iraq and Afghanistan on a computer memory card among the belongings of Pfc. Bradley Manning, with a note suggesting that an unnamed recipient "sit on this information" while deciding how best to distribute it, according to testimony Monday.
