A Maryland health department spokesman says two deaths last week have been attributed to the heat, bringing the total for the year to 12.
David Paulson, a spokesman for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, announced Monday that the deaths of a Baltimore resident and a Harford County senior citizen were heat-related, although both had serious underlying conditions.
Paulson says the temperature in the building where the Harford County resident was found was over 100 degrees, while the Baltimore resident was found in a home that also was not air-conditioned.
