Health Care for the Homeless, which has offered services from its $15.5 million headquarters in the city for two months now, is planning to take time out today for an official housewarming and a dedication.

Organization officials and supporters of Baltimore's leading provider of comprehensive health services for the homeless will celebrate its expanded capacity to deliver health services, education and advocacy. Health Care for the Homeless serves about 12,000 Marylanders annually.

The staff and community partners of the 25-year-old nonprofit organization will formally name the building at 421 Fallsway for philanthropists Harry and Jeanette Weinberg, whose foundation was the largest private donor to the project. City, state and federal dollars also helped in the expansion, which has tripled the space the agency formerly occupied on Park Avenue.

The building will be open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today for staff-led tours of the three floors of offices, classrooms and clinics - 60,000 square feet in all. Visitors may see work in progress on a pharmacy, a pediatric clinic, and Maryland's first dental program exclusively for homeless children and adults, all of which should be ready for clients within the next few months.

Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Gov. Martin O'Malley, Mayor Stephanie C. Rawlings-Blake, City Council President Bernard "Jack" Young and other officials are expected to attend a reception at 4:30 p.m.
