Baltimore man suing doctor, hospital after penile implant procedure

A Baltimore man is suing a urologist and Good Samaritan Hospital, claiming an penile implant procedure caused him pain and left him unable to have sex, according to a lawsuit filed this month.

Willie Price and his wife claim Price continues to suffer pain and can no longer have intercourse or have an erection because of the procedure, according to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Baltimore City Circuit Court. Price also said in the suit that "his penis is dramatically shortened due to the number of surgeries he has undergone," and will never be able to have sex again. The lawsuit claims damages exceeding $30,000.

A spokeswoman with MedStar Hospitals, which operates Good Samaritan, declined to comment, citing the pending litigation. Price's attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

The suit alleges that Price's physician, Dr. Christen Alevizatos, failed to properly measure for the correct implant size and did not use appropriate technique, which Price claims caused an infection. Alevizatos' office referred inquiries to Chesapeake Urology Associates, where he is affiliated. A spokesperson with Chesapeake Urology also did not respond to a request for comment Friday.

The suit claims Price told Alevizatos of pain following the procedure and, three months later, Alevizatos replaced the implant with a different model. After the second procedure, Price claims he had an infection, but Alevizatos did not properly follow up.

According to the lawsuit, Price went a different doctor who replaced the second implant with a smaller device and treated Price with antibiotics, the suit says. Price ultimately had the implant removed, according to the suit.

The lawsuit was first reported by The Daily Record.
