A Baltimore man was sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to one count of felony Medicaid fraud, the Maryland attorney general's office announced Tuesday.
Claude Grimes IV, 39, was also ordered to pay restitution and civil penalties of $17,252 and placed on probation for two years by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles Peters.
Medicaid paid Grimes more than $11,000 over two years for medical supplies and equipment that he never provided, the attorney general's office said. He had co-founded a company called CHM Medical Supply Inc in March 2010, and submitted Medicaid claims for two people he had recruited as customers between 2010 and 2012.
The Medicaid fraud control unit in the attorney general's office worked with the U.S. attorney's office in Maryland and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the Inspector General on the investigation.
