The Baltimore City Health Department said Monday that a traveler who returned from West Africa recently with a fever does not have Ebola.
The person was expected to be discharged Monday after briefly being admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital and receiving treatment in an isolation room as tests were conducted. Under rules imposed last fall during an outbreak of the deadly disease, travelers from countries in West Africa affected by Ebola must be monitored for 21 days, which includes reporting their temperatures.
As of April 1, Maryland had monitored more than 1,000 travelers since October. Health officials said the patient poses no danger to the public.
