The Maryland Athletic Club and Wellness Center, known as the MAC, has sold its Harbor East location to Wellbridge, a Denver-based company that also owns the Bel Air Athletic Club and was looking to expand in the area.
Wellbridge operates 19 other athletic and tennis clubs around the country and took over the downtown MAC location July 1.
MAC opened the Harbor East location in 2007, and maintains two other facilities in Timonium and Hunt Valley.
Officials said all 100 full- and part-time employees will continue on at Wellbridge, which plans to continue existing programming. It also will allow any of the 3,000 members with reciprocal use of other MAC facilities to continue the benefit for three years.
