If you get a mosquito bite there's probably no need to run to the doctor and get tested for Zika.

The mosquito that carries Zika doesn't seem to have reached Maryland yet and the 31 cases in the state are travel-related. So it's more important for people traveling to countries where the mosquitoes are carrying the disease.

Pregnant women shouldn't travel to these countries at all because Zika causes birth defects in babies, Wen said.

There are other precautions people can take once Zika-carrying mosquitoes reach the state, including wearing repellant with DEET and making sure there is not standing water, where mosquitoes can lay eggs, in your yard.
