To mark six successful seasons of its unique holiday show “Christmas on the Rocks,” TheaterWorks is hosting a “Chaos, Curls & Cocktails” party Dec. 17 at 6 p.m.

Hartford-based playwright Jacques Lamarre, who wrote two of the scenes in the satirical show (featuring Charlie Brown from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and Zuzu from “It’s a Wonderful Life”), will read an unproduced third scene he concocted. Rob Ruggiero, who conceived and directed “Christmas on the Rocks” will be on hand for a discussion of the show, as will cast members from the show.

The “curls” in “Chaos, Curls & Cocktails” will be a display of wigs from the show, designed and handcrafted by Mark Rampmeyer. The event also includes a screening of a short film by Pedro Bermudez, documenting the quick costume changes and other excitements happening behind the scenes at each performance of “Christmas on the Rocks.”

The presentations begin at 7 p.m. and are preceded by a cocktail hour at 6 p.m.

“Christmas on the Rocks” consists of comical one-act plays by six different playwrights. Besides Lamarre, the roster includes Theresa Rebeck, Edwin Sanchez, John Cariani, Jeffrey Hatcher and the team of Jenn Harris and Matthew Wilkas. Each one-act takes an iconic child character from a classic Christmas story and has a grown-up version of them walk into a quiet city bar at Christmastime. Since it first premiered at TheaterWorks in 2013, the show has undergone a few cast changes and has swapped out some scenes for newer ones.

“Christmas on the Rocks” has a new cast member this season: Randy Harrison, who just starred in a national tour of the musical “Cabaret.” The lead female performer since 2014 has been Jenn Harris. Tom Bloom has returned for a second season as the show’s bartender, shrugging incredulously at the parade of cartoon and storybook characters who wander through the bar.

Tickets for “Chaos, Curls & Cocktails” are $35 and $45. The special event happens on a Monday, when “Christmas on the Rocks is not performed. The show runs Tuesdays through Sundays at TheaterWorks through Dec. 23. TheaterWorks is at 233 Pearl St., Hartford. The box office can be reached at 860-527-7838 or
