Columnist Jeff Jacobs

Jeff Jacobs was born in Kirkwood, Mo., and grew up in Newport, R.I. He got a degree from University of Missouri School of Journalism, then worked at newspapers in Michigan and New Jersey before joining the Courant in 1984. He covered the Hartford Whalers and the NHL for 11 years and has been the general sports columnist for 19 years, covering everything from Olympics, Super Bowl and World Series to UConn basketball and high school sports. He is a nine-time Connecticut Sports Writer of the Year and twice has been honored by APSE as one of the Top 10 national columnists. Married to wife Liz since 1987 and has two children, Katerina, a recent graduate of Southern Connecticut, and Liam, a junior in high school. Passions: Sports, music, geography, genealogy, playing Sporcle. Hobby: Surviving heart attacks.
