9. The Jolly Pig
COLBY WARE / BALTIMORE SUN
thejollypig.com; @thejollypig The Jolly Pig has a selection of name-appropriate pulled pork and slow smoked chicken to nosh on. But at its core, the Pig is actually a taco truck (two for $9, three for $12). Tacos are heavy on the Asian-inspired fusion side, with lip-smacking offerings like the "Cheri-yaki," a cherry-based teriyaki with pineapple and crispy onions on a soft tortilla. These tacos are huge, portion wise. So don't let your eyes get larger than your belly when being tempted by their menagerie of flavors.

8. Fowl Play
Rhonisha Franklin / Handout / Baltimore Sun
fowlplayfoodtruck.com;@fowlplaytruck The Fowl Play website -- which lists a variety of American food served by this Baltimore chicken-centric truck -- says its "famous chicken cheese steak" will lead customers to "never go to Philly again!" It's an overstatement -- but an effective one -- that turned us on to one of the better chicken cheesesteaks available in the city. It has the usual suspects -- chicken (with nice grill marks), sauteed onions, mayonnaise, lettuce and plenty of white American cheese -- but the key element is the truck's homemade Fowl Play Sauce. It's a substitute for ketchup and barbecue sauce, according to owner/chef Gary Brooks (pictured), which can be purchased straight from the truck for $6. Thanks to its sweet-and-tangy sauce, Fowl Play offers something other trucks do not.

7. DaRua
Lloyd Fox / Baltimore Sun
facebook.com/daruafoodtruck; @daruafoodtruck DaRua hit the road a little more than a year ago in Baltimore, slinging Brazilian street food with an eager staff ready to feed your face -- and to explain what Brazilian street food is, actually. Flavorful, juicy chicken skewers ($8 for three), pastels (meat stuffed pastries, $6) and croquettes ($6 for two) embody the selection with sides like fried plantains and yucca fries to make your mouth water even more. Enjoy them all a la carte or platter it up with two sides for $12-$13.

6. Sultan
Al Drago / Baltimore Sun
sultanfoodtruck.com; @sultanfoodtruck If Sultan's generous portions and gloriously fresh selection of Indian cuisine weren't its only selling point -- which would be enough -- they go so far as to have an onboard tandoor for making fresh naan on the spot. When coupled with a heaping helping of veggies and chicken tikka masala ($10), Sultan is the Indian food truck to beat. Fortunately for us, they're the first, best and only Indian food truck in the city -- for now.
