(May 9, 2012) The freshman broke a 20-year-old scoring record by two shots to win the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association individual golf championship May 1 at Bulle Rock in Havre de Grace. His 71-73-70-214 won by five strokes. The 5-foot-9, 130-pound 15-year-old is believed to be only the second freshman to ever win the title. Navarro's coach, Pete VanZandt, said the teen has the perfect disposition for golf success, never letting his emotions get the best of him. "He never seems to feel the pressure," VanZandt said. "There were several more experienced seniors right behind him and his response was to go out and shoot 70, the lowest round of the tournament." Others considered: Matt Collins, Gilman, baseball; Gordie Koerber, Gilman, lacrosse; Jason Lawrence, Fallston, lacrosse; Fyne Ndukwe, Overlea, track and field; Julian Woods, Century, track and field.

The senior scored five goals and handed out an assist, in a 12 minute span covering the first and second quarters of a game against Patterson Mill on Wednesday. Fallston won, 14-10, to stay undefeated in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference at 4-0. Wheeler leads the team in points with 21 goals and 15 assists. He has a 3.8 GPA and will attend Virginia Tech to study engineering. His coach, Matt Parks, says Wheeler is "very savvy, good in tight spaces and has a great stick. (April 25, 2012) The senior shortstop led the No. 4 Lions (11-2) to three Howard County wins last week, including Friday's 6-0 victory over then-No.1 and previously undefeated Reservoir. In that game, Natoli went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Earlier in the week, she went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in a win against Wilde Lake and then 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a win against Mount Hebron, also making two fine defensive plays to help preserve a perfect game thrown by pitcher Samantha O'Connor. A four-year starter who played her first two seasons at third base, Natoli is batting .633 this spring with 21 RBIs, 18 runs and five stolen bases. In 20 plate appearances, she has only struck out once. Natoli, who has a 3.8 GPA, is considering attending Towson with plans to walk on the softball team. At Howard, she also played three years on the varsity basketball team. Others considered: Natalie Easthom, Browdneck, lacrosse; Kim Federowicz, Chesapeake-AA, softball; Rayven Ray, Kenwood, track and field; Ashleigh Stallings, Maryvale Prep, track and field; Megan Whittle, McDonogh, lacrosse.

(April 25, 2012) The 6-foot-5, 200-pound senior goalie stopped 14 shots -- including six one-on-ones -- to lead his team to a 7-6 win over North Harford on Wednesday. It was Kuhn's third win in a span of seven days, all against teams the Huskies had never previously beaten. Besides stopping the ball, Kuhn directed the defense and helped the offense by setting up the attack with outlet passes. Coach Jason Bellamy credits him as a primary reason the team is 8-2 and unbeaten in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference. Kuhn also plays football and basketball, has a 3.3 GPA and has signed to play lacrosse at Division II Florida Southern College. Others considered: Tommy Fortman, Digital Harbor, baseball; Austin Frederick, McDonogh, lacrosse; Patrick Kelly, Calvert Hall, lacrosse; Will Meadows, Gilman, track and field; Zack Ridgely, Archbishop Curley, baseball; Zach Robinette, Harford Tech, baseball; Michael Washington, Overlea, track and field.
