Chefs and restaurants in South Florida are gearing up to offer gourmands a foodie fix with live streaming and video channels with cooking tuturials, designed specifically for their culinary fans who can’t leave home because of COVID-19.

So here is a list of what’s available now, but keep coming back this week because we’ve heard that a few high profile names in the restaurant biz are gearing up some projects right now.

ABC Fine Wine and Spirits

16 locations in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

ABC Fine Wines and Spirits has an ongoing series of virtual tastings on Zoom. Lenore Nolan-Ryan World Class Catering and Cooking School

Chef Nolan-Ryan is accustomed to giving culinary instruction since her eatery (free delivery throughout Fort Laudedale) is, as you can tell from the title, a cooking school. Going forward those classes will be limited in size with lots of added protocols such as gloves and hand sanitization. But you can also check out her online cooking classes, which will include: The Perfect Omelets, A-Z Vegetables, Parchment Paper Cooking — Fish/Shellfish/Chicken, Vegetables, Desserts, The Art of Vinaigrettes, The Art of Sauces, The Art of Technique — Saute/Braise/Steam/Roast/Broil/Poach, I Love Shrimp, Thrill of the Grill, Wok with Me, Fresh Fruit Crumble and Baked Chocolate Pudding.

Chef Lyndsey Waters will cooking demonstrations and easy-meal recipes twice a week on “TRP Live." The series was launched by TRP Taste, the culinary laboratory headed up by the Restaurant People. There will also be a “Rooftop Happy Hour,” where DJ Ricky Fatts will spin live tunes as master mixologists from the lounge @Rooftop1WLO demonstrate how to make cocktails.

This culinary laboratory headed up by the Restaurant People has launched “TRP Live” twice a week with cooking demonstrations and easy-meal recipes from chef Lyndsey Waters as well as a “Rooftop Happy Hour,” where DJ Ricky Fatts will spin live tunes as master mixologists from the lounge @Rooftop1WLO demonstrate a few classic cocktails to create at home. The cooking demonstrations are Mondays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. The virtual happy hour is Fridays at 6:40 p.m. Going forward, “TRP Live” will spotlight local chefs, bartenders and other industry partners and celebrities. Every Thursday at 5 p.m., Stefano Campanini hosts “Chat with the Winemakers” for oenophiles sheltering in place. The live streams on Instagram and Facebook are produced by Wine by the Bay, a wine retail store in Miami that specializes in rare and collectible wines and Champagne. and

Blaze Pizza

Blaze Pizza’s executive chef Brad Kent — a.k.a. the Pizza Whisperer — is doing weekly demonstrations of his tricks of the trade every Monday at 3 p.m. on the restaurant chain’s Instagram account. Even better, during the live stream you can catch codes posted in the comments that give you a chance to win a free 11-inch pizza. You then have to be the first to enter the code at checkout while online at or through the app. Blaze has eight South Florida locations and the all offer 50 percent off of takeout orders for first responders with credentials.

Mika Leon is doing an Instagram Live cooking class every week that she is calling “Casa Caliente" every Saturday and Tuesday at noon. Foodies might recognize the third generation chef/restaurateur from appearances on The Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Store Games” and “Beat Bobby Flay.” Leon is also launching a “Secret Brunch Menu” in the Wynwood food truck location, which she will announce this Saturday during the Instagram Live

Executive chef Jorge Montes at Davie's Rojo Kitchen has been in the food industry for over 20 years working in various restaurants and hotels in South Florida. In 2008, He and his sister, Vanessa Montes, started the catering and cooking school (which specializes in hands-on cooking classes for team builds and private groups).

Executive chef Jorge Montes and his sister, Vanessa, started Roho Kitchen in 2008. The family-owned business specializes in cooking classes for team-building experiences and private groups. Their Homemade Chefs public cooking group has over 6,000 members. With most of its restaurants in South America, this Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant — with a location in Miami — just launched a seven-episode series of short online documentaries in both English and Spanish. Osaka’s next project will be tutorials on topics from how to sharpen knives to pairing wine, sake and Japanese whiskey with dinner. Go to

COVID Quarantine Cooking

Franz Aliquo is moving his streaming cooking classes from Twitch to Zoom, where he plans on hosting a class every other day. If the Aliquo sounds familiar, you may remember the self-described “experiential artist” as the owner of 666 Burger food truck and the creator of the Doucheburger, billed as “the world’s most expensive burger.” The on-and-off Miami resident made headlines a few years ago with his smart car drag races and by being part of a trio who rode a self-driving Tesla from coast to coast in 55 hours. Food Network star and restaurant entrepreneur Guy Fieri opened the second Chicken Guy! in Aventura (the first is in Orlando) this past fall. Before the coronavirus pandemic, there were plans to open more locations in South Florida.

Tommy Bahama has a tropical-themed cooking/mixology/wine pairing demonstration series on the retailer's Instagram account. Christie Caggiani, registered dietician and nutrition therapist, is co-owner of Therapeutic Oasis in Boca Raton and Jupiter. Caggiani, along with licensed clinical psychologists Dr. Patricia Shutt and Dr. Nicole Friedman, founded Therapeutic Oasis in 2013. The Jupiter location also has licensed marriage and family therapist Clara Bossie, who is also a co-owner.
