During Communist times, Romania was known for exporting large quantities of awful plonk. It's good to see this country, which has one of the world's oldest wine traditions, back in the fine wine game. This chunky deep-colored red wine is immensely charming and very reasonably priced. It offers deep wild berry flavors, with hints of game, pine and earthiness. It's perfectly ready to drink now. Babeasca neagra is an ancient grape variety whose name translates to "grandmother's black grape."
