Former Gino's executive Tom Romano engineered the current Gino's revival. A company-owned store opened in King of Prussia, Pa., in October 2010, and the first franchise operation opened in August 2011 in Towson. Another store is operating in Bensalem, Pa.

Gino's was founded in Baltimore, but the company relocated its headquarters to King of Prussia before it was acquired by Marriott Corp. in 1982. The chain fizzled out by the early 1990s, and the last Gino's, located in Pasadena and owned independently, closed in 1991.

Gino's Burgers & Chicken will have a presence at Oriole Park this year, company officials say.

The new Gino's is at 5100 Honeygo Center Drive. For information call 443-854-8488 go to ginosgiant.com.

On the corner

Shuttered since early 2011, Sanders' Corner on Cromwell Bridge Road will reopen in the spring as

Word first got out about activity at the Loch Raven landmark through diligent scouting reports made by members of the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Society. Since the sudden closing of Sanders' Corner, the society's members have been concerned about memorabilia inside the restaurant relating to the rail line fondly remembered as the Ma & Pa. The line's Loch Raven Station, destroyed by fire in 1949, stood just by what is now Sanders' Corner.

So, when members noticed that the For Sale sign at Sanders' Corner had been removed and pre-construction activity had begun, they sprang into action.

One member visiting the Sanders' Corner site approached the folks gathered there, identified his affiliation, and asked what they intended to do with the Ma & Pa memorabilia. He was not only assured that the artifacts will be displayed when the property reopens but was told that a Ma & Pa theme will be prominent in its new incarnation.

The new ownership group, which includes Mat Remsnyder, currently the manager of Sean Bolan's in Bel Air, has begun charting their progress on a Facebook page. Construction is underway in what will be known as the Fireplace Room, the Baltimore Room and the Loch "Raven" Room, which will showcase Loch Raven history and Baltimore Ravens memorabilia.

Folks remember when Sanders' Corner was a general store where you'd go for ice cream before the family expanded it into a full-service restaurant. And older folks remember it from its days as a post office and general store.

A second Kumari

One of the owners of

Kumari

, a Nepalese and Indian restaurant in Mount Vernon, has opened a second restaurant. The new Kumari is in the Southside Marketplace in South Baltimore.

When Kumari opened in Mount Vernon in 2003, there were already two other Indian restaurants within two blocks. There aren't as many good Indian options south of Federal Hill, though.

Kumari in Riverside is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. A buffet is available on weekdays for $8.95 and weekends for $10.95. The best news of all? The new Kumari delivers.

Kumari is at 819 E. Fort Ave. For information, call 410-576-2222.

A second My Thai

The new Heavy Seas Alehouse will be getting some company in the Tack Factory. The people behind

My Thai

have signed a lease for the space formerly occupied by Lemongrass, another Thai restaurant.

My Thai was one of three restaurants closed by the December 2010 fire at the Park Plaza building in Mount Vernon. Another of those restaurants, Indigma, relocated across the street from the Park Plaza last fall, while the owner's of Donna's have stated their intention to reopen in the Park Plaza building when its restoration is complete.

My Thai opened in the Park Plaza building in 2007, where it was operated by husband-and-wife restaurateurs Brad and Varattaya Wales. While there's no firm word on an opening date for My Thai, a representative for the broker who managed the deal said a June opening is targeted.
