Regi’s American Bistro’s days are numbered, but owner Alan Morstein won’t be absent from Baltimore’s dining scene for long.
The Federal Hill restaurant will close its doors April 7. But this summer, Morstein plans to open a stall at Mount Vernon Marketplace.
Morstein said he is in negotiations to open Alan’s Deli at the market at 520 Park Ave., where he would return to his roots serving corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, brunch offerings like omelets, and a few Regi’s favorites like tater tots and Maryland crab soup.
Dominic Wiker, development director for the Time Group, which owns Mount Vernon Marketplace, could not immediately be reached for comment.
In the meantime, Morstein is celebrating his 15-year run in Federal Hill.
The building and business are still for sale. He’s asking $399,000 for the restaurant, and $850,000 for the building and liquor license. Morstein said he has gotten some “nibbles,” but has not yet found a buyer.
