The Columbia location of Petit Louis isn't the only restaurant to close for a makeover in recent months. As restaurants approach a decade in business, many have found reinvention to bring a vital boost to business and forestall the prospect of closure.
Pie in the Sky offers 10- and 14-inch pies, as well as specialty sandwiches, salads, pasta and calzones. Of the six meat and five veggie pizzas, varieties include the pie special (olive oil, prosciutto, figs, walnuts, mozzarella and arugula), portobello mushroom (garlic herb sauce, portobello mushrooms, mozzarella, provolone, baby spinach, roasted red peppers, Kalamata olives and feta) and spicy pastrami (tomato sauce, spicy beef pastrami, mozzarella, roasted red peppers and sesame seeds). Mercan said he also offers gluten-free and vegan options.
Prices range from about $7-$18, Mercan said.
Mercan also owns Toss, a pizzeria in Mid-Govans, and said he had received requests from customers in Canton and Fells Point to bring his pizza concept closer to them.
