The war of breaded poultry surrounded by bread and condiments has a new entry, as Baltimore’s own Jimmy’s Famous Seafood is bringing back its Crabby Chicken sandwich and pledging to donate all of its sales to charity.

With many proclaiming that Popeye’s new fried chicken sandwich is, in fact, the best fried chicken sandwich out of all fast food chicken sandwiches the world over, the Holabird Avenue restaurant took to Twitter on Monday to say that it’s reintroducing its fried chicken sandwich.

“Ok kids, you had your fun,” the restaurant wrote on Twitter, probably somewhat underestimating the ability Twitter has to continue to argue about fast food chicken sandwiches and other topics that cost less than $10.

“Get out the way - The Crabby Chicken is BACK!" it continues, describing how it’s covered in crab dip, which is not pickles.

The restaurant wrote that the sandwich will be $5 this Thursday and that all sales will be donated to Best Buddies Maryland, the local branch of the international nonprofit “dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement,” according to its website.

Jimmy’s Seafood is no stranger to animal-based controversy, as the restaurant launched a limited-release beer called “PETA Tears” as a reference to a squabble last year over a billboard from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

As to whether Jimmy’s sandwich is better than those at Chik-fil-A or Popeyes or McDonald’s or Burger King or KFC or Wendy’s or Bojangles’ or Hardee’s, you all will have to find out for yourself because this reporter is a vegetarian and hasn’t eaten a Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich in years.
