Iron Rooster to open at McHenry Row; Greene Turtle and Piaza closing

The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille and next-door neighbor Piaza at McHenry Row are closing their doors to make way for Iron Rooster.

The Annapolis-based restaurant, which serves breakfast all day, is opening its fourth location at the mixed-use Locust Point complex. It's expected to open this summer.

Pizza eatery Piaza, which has another location in Berlin, Md., will close its McHenry Row location Friday.

The Greene Turtle at McHenry Row will close March 31. The bar and restaurant opened in February 2012, and downsized in 2015 to create space for Piaza.

Iron Rooster restaurant debuted in Annapolis in 2014 and has since opened locations in Canton and Hunt Valley. In addition to all-day breakfast offerings, Iron Rooster also serves hearty lunch dishes, dinner and craft cocktails.

Bob Barry, Greene Turtle's president and CEO, said in an emailed statement that the company is considering opening another location nearby. Greene Turtle has 27 other locations in Maryland and 45 restaurants total.

Members of the Greene Turtle Mug Club at the McHenry Row locations can collect their mugs any time before the restaurant closes, Barry added, and their memberships will be honored at any other Greene Turtle locations.

Recently, I told a friend in Canton my plans to check out the all-day breakfast spot Iron Rooster.

Iron Rooster will open its third restaurant this week just in time to catch Black Friday shoppers.
