8 Ball Bar & Grill closing in Fells Point

8 Ball Bar & Grill will close in Fells Point after service April 2.

8 Ball Bar & Grill, the Fells Point restaurant specializing in meatballs and Detroit-style pizza, will close its doors Monday after two years in business.

The restaurant announced its closure with posts on its social media pages.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we have accepted another offer on our location and this week will be our last week in Fells Point,” a post on 8 Ball’s Instagram account read.

The restaurant opened as 8 Ball Meatball in February 2016, when it primarily served various takes on meatballs — made with multiple meats and sauces, and served in bowls, sliders and subs.

Over time, 8 Ball expanded its menu and changed its name to reflect its broader offerings.

Owner Paul Weitz said he is turning his sights to his other restaurants. His family owns eateries at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

“We’re just focusing on our other endeavors,” he said.

8 Ball will offer specials until its closure, concluding with a party Monday for the NCAA men’s basketball national championship.
