Baltimore ranked No. 29 on Zagat’s list of the 30 most exciting food cities in the U.S. for 2017.
“From tony cocktail lounges and white tablecloth bistros to hipster beer bars and food halls, Charm City is on the rise,” editor Meredith Heil wrote.
Zagat, which provides dining guides for various cities and cuisines, mentioned the opening of Andrew Carmellini’s Rye Street Tavern in Port Covington as a highlight. Heil also praised Loch Bar; the various restaurants from Baltimore’s James Beard Award winner, Spike Gjerde (such as Woodberry Kitchen and Sandlot); and the spots from five-time James Beard finalist, Cindy Wolf (Charleston, Bar Vasquez, etc.).
“Promising young guns are also coming in droves, with hit trattoria Tagliata and sister speakeasy The Elk Room, the hip Dylan’s Oyster Cellar and the highly anticipated soul food hot spot Ida B’s Table leading the charge,” Heil wrote.
