Urban Axes, a chain-bar concept involving patrons throwing axes at targets, will open in April in Highlandtown.

On Thursday, the Baltimore City Liquor Board approved a liquor license for the bar located at 1 N. Haven St., according to a liquor board spokeswoman.

The 10,000-square-foot Urban Axes facility in Baltimore will open in April, said company spokeswoman Courtney Osgood. A specific opening date, along with operating days and hours, have not yet been decided, she said.

Urban Axes will serve beer and wine, according to Osgood.

To participate, it’ll cost patrons $35 for an ax-throwing session. Osgood said the best way to experience Urban Axes is in groups of six to 12. Capable of holding 150 ax-throwers, the facility will feature six throwing sections and 24 targets.

Urban Axes opened its first facility in 2016 in Philadelphia, and, not long after, opened a second location in Austin, Texas. Baltimore will be its third.
