Professor Trash Wheel is getting her own Peabody Heights Brewery beer, too

Around this time last year, we learned that Baltimore’s Mr. Trash Wheel was getting his own beer. Now it’s the Professor’s turn.

Peabody Heights Brewery, in collaboration with the Waterfront Partnership’s Healthy Harbor Initiative, announced in a news release Wednesday that it would release its second beer dedicated to Baltimore’s trash collecting water wheels. Titled Professor Trash Wheel Blinded Me Wit Science will be released April 21, Earth Day. The beer will be available in six-pack and by the case (24 cans) in Baltimore City and County following the launch.

The beer — a 4.9 percent ABV Belgian-style wheat beer brewed with orange and lemon peel, and Cascade hops — was named after the 1982 hit song, “She Blinded Me with Science,” by Baltimore transplant and Johns Hopkins University professor Thomas Dolby, the release said.

It’s also a sequel to last year’s Mr. Trash Wheel’s Lost Python Ale, whose sales have led to $7,000 in support of Healthy Harbor, the release said.

Since May 2014, Mr. Trash Wheel has collected more than a million pounds of trash in the Inner Harbor. Professor Trash Wheel, a second collector, operates in Canton.

The beer’s launch party is scheduled to take place 7-10:30 p.m. April 21 at Peabody Heights Brewery (401 E. 30th St., Abell). Tickets — which include all-you-can-drink Peabody beer, including the new Trash Wheel brew, a Trash Wheel pint glass and more — are on sale now.
