Dinosaur Bar-B-Que’s Baltimore location has closed.
Telephone calls to the restaurant are greeted with a recorded message: “We are sad to announce that we are now closed,” it says in part. “We are grateful to the Baltimore community for welcoming us.”
No further details on the closure were available Friday afternoon.
The first Dinosaur Bar-B-Que opened in Syracuse, N.Y., in 1988. The restaurant was voted the best barbecue in the country in a 2009 poll conducted by ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and was also lauded on the Food Network and the Travel Channel.
The chain’s Baltimore location, at 1401 Fleet St. in a Harbor East building that dates to 1885, opened in September 2015. At the time, Dinosaur founder and CEO John Stage said, “There’s just so much character in the area, and then we got this amazing building that plopped in our lap."
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que retains eight locations, seven in New York and one in Connecticut.
