Waterfront Kitchen has a new executive chef. The restaurant announced today that David Hynes has taken over the kitchen at the Fells Point spot.

Since his arrival in early February, the chef has been meeting with local vendors and purveyors and working with the restaurant's gardener, Jo Cosgrove, who helps manage Waterfront's partnership with the Living Classroom Foundation's student-gardening program.

A native New Yorker, Hynes was most recently executive chef of Strip House restaurant in Greenwich Village. Other New York City restaurants on his resume include Primehouse, Blue Water Grill and 2nd Street Cafe.

Levi Briggs was the executive chef at Waterfront Kitchen when it opened in 2011. The chef Jerry Pellegrino, who has had various roles at the restaurant since its opening -- including an extended stint as its de facto executive chef after Briggs' departure -- is no longer involved in its day-to-day operations, according to Cynthia Glover, a spokeswoman for the restaurant. Pellegrino remains a part-owner at Waterfront Kitchen, she said.
